Thrive San Diego, an initiative led by United Way of San Diego and the County of San Diego, supports individuals and families in achieving financial stability and receiving a consistent nutritious food supply.
Thrive San Diego Supports the expansion of the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). VITA provides free income tax preparation, referral to legal services and assistance with Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN). The VITA program helps individuals and families claim their Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
This year Thrive San Diego is partnering with Goodwill Industries of San Diego, Towards Maximum Independence, State Council on Disabilities Area Board XIII and Being Alive to bring the free income tax program to the disability communities. We know often times the disabled face multiple barriers in trying to access services. So, Thrive San Diego is bring the services to them.
Thrive San Diego also provides free screenings for CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps) and other benefits at the free tax preparation sites throughout the County.
